Dave Zilka — Director

Interacting with people is one of Director Dave Zilka’s favorite things about working in a library. Zilka loves that the Monessen Public Library provides educational, recreational and cultural opportunities and events for the entire community. “Reading is important because it develops your mind and strengthens brain connections, which leads to more highly developed language and comprehension skills, “ says Zilka who has worked at Monessen Public Library for 32 years. Zilka received his MLS degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from California University of PA.

In his spare time, Zilka enjoys spending time with his family, including his two dogs and three cats. He also likes to golf, bowl, listen to music, read and watch black & white movies.

Allen Feryok — Reference Librarian

Allen Feryok, Reference Librarian, interacts with patrons on a daily basis and has a vast knowledge on the library’s current offerings. Feryok loves the “large, in-depth, high quality non-fiction collection” available at Monessen Public Library. Feryok has a Masters in Library Science. He explains the importance of reading as “You can take in and evaluate new information at your own pace.”
