In 2016, Monessen Public Library & Cultural Center celebrates our eightieth year of service to Monessen and the Mon Valley. During the year, there will be special events and commemorations to celebrate the Library’s contribution to the Mon Valley.

Monday July 11th we celebrated Mother Goose Olympics at the children’s library department. The children recited nursery rhymes at different themed stations, each child went home with a gold medal! What a fun day!

On July 9th the Children’s department was invited to participate in a community celebration for Monessen. We read a bubble themed book called “POP” and the children were invited to learn how to make our famous bubble snakes. The weather was beautiful and couldn’t have been nicer for a community picnic!

Carnegie Science Center visited the library Saturday July 9th for the program Inside out, Head to Toe. It was all about bones, blood, and the things that keep our bodies healthy and moving.
